Dr. Carley Hovermale earned a Master of Science in Rehabilitation Counseling and a PhD in Health Related Sciences from Virginia Commonwealth University. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and Certified Substance Abuse Counselor (CSAC) with a history of working in community based Mental Health focusing on youth in the foster care system.  Dr. Hovermale serves on the board for the Central Virginia Partnership on Youth and is an advocate for interdisciplinary communication and practice within both Social Services and Mental Health.  She currently teaches the Doctoral Seminar in the Health-Related Sciences program at VCU.
