With over 20 years of progressively responsible management experience in large, complex institutions, Elizabeth Fortune brings a wealth of knowledge and practical expertise to her role as an Adjunct Faculty Instructor in the VCU College of Health Professions. As the Administrative Director at the VCU Wright Center for Clinical and Translational Research, she successfully manages many different awards, varying in scale, scope and complexity, including the prestigious NIH Clinical and Translational Science Award (CTSA), as well as organizing and managing a shared services center to support three independent research centers.
Elizabeth earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Alabama, and an M.B.A. from James Madison University. She also holds the certified research administrator (CRA) credential.
Elizabeth's experience emphasizes the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration and strategic planning, essential for fostering a collaborative research environment. This dedication to advancing knowledge and innovation in research administration is reflected in her commitment to teaching and mentoring the next generation of research administrators.
