Bio

Carly Croft, Ed.D., COMT, OSC, C-TAGME, is an educator, healthcare professional, and clinical workforce development leader with expertise in adult learning, curriculum design, faculty development, and ophthalmic education. She currently serves as Director of Clinical Training and Professional Development at PRISM Vision Group, where she leads the development and implementation of competency-based onboarding, clinical education, and professional development programs across a multi-site ophthalmology network.

Dr. Croft previously served as Residency Program Administrator for the VCU Health Department of Ophthalmology, supporting undergraduate medical education (UME), graduate medical education (GME), accreditation activities, and faculty development initiatives. Her academic interests include adult learning theory, competency-based education, healthcare workforce development, psychological safety in learning environments, and program evaluation.

In addition to her educational leadership, Dr. Croft has extensive experience providing direct patient care as a Certified Ophthalmic Medical Technologist (COMT) in both academic and private practice settings. She is passionate about preparing healthcare professionals for success through meaningful learning experiences that connect theory, practice, and patient-centered care.

Dr. Croft is actively involved in advancing ophthalmic education at both the national and regional levels. She currently serves as Chair of the American Academy of Ophthalmic Professionals (AAOP) Annual Meeting Program Committee and as a member of the AAOP Advisory Board. She has also held leadership roles with the Virginia Society of Ophthalmic Medical Personnel (VSOMP), supporting educational programming and professional development opportunities for ophthalmic personnel throughout the region.

Through her teaching, leadership, and service, Dr. Croft remains committed to fostering lifelong learning and developing the next generation of healthcare professionals.
